St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity dedicated to ensuring that no one in West Suffolk and Thetford must face dying, death or grief alone.
Each year, the Hospice supports thousands of people and their families, providing specialist palliative care, emotional support and practical help, whether at home, in the community or at the Hospice in Bury St Edmunds. Its care is tailored to each individual, helping to ease pain, reduce distress and support families at one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Alongside this, the Hospice works within local communities to encourage more open conversations about death and dying, helping people feel better informed, more prepared and less alone. As a charity, St Nicholas Hospice Care relies on the support of its community to continue this vital work. It costs around £9.5 million each year to run its services. That’s equivalent to £26,000 per day. Even with statutory funding support, a daily shortfall of £18,000 is faced. This gap must be filled through fundraising, retail, legacies, and other income sources.
As the chosen charity for the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards, the Hospice is proud to work alongside local businesses whose support helps sustain and strengthen care across the region. Together, through partnerships like this, we can ensure that more people receive the care, dignity and support they need, when it matters.
